Railcorp’s requirement to keep the Quakers Hill Railway Station running while work was carried out to upgrade the facility was met by Generator Hire Sales and Service.

The 16 week outage was supported by 2 x 250Kva silenced diesel generators. One of the generators was running 24/7 whilst the second generator was on standby via an auto changeover switch.

Due to the continuous operation the prime power generator was connected to a 2000 litre self bunded diesel fuel tank provided and installed by Generator Hire Sales and Service technical support as well as the refuelling.

This opportunity gave us the chance to spotlight our new range of freestanding self bunded diesel fuel tanks for hire or sale and minimize the refuelling service charges to our customer.         

The secondary standby generator would come on line via the auto changeover switch in the event of main generator failure, however this was purely a precautionary measure to ensure power to the station at all times . At times of servicing the main generator, the secondary unit was brought online and returned to standby mode on completion of the service.

Working to schedules set by the main contracting company, Generator Hire Sales and Service successfully supported this project through to the reconnection of mains power by the local utility provider.
