Generator Hire Sales and Service welcomes the Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI) as our newest PREMIUM POWER customer.

“Power Planning” should be an essential part of any organisation who considers electricity as a crucial requirement for it’s operation.
Darryn Capes-Davis, Acting Head of Operations, CMRI, said:
We registered for Generator Hire’s PREMIUM POWER service after our onsite generator failed at a critical time. We wanted to know that we had a reliable backup alternative so we looked to Generator Hire as part of a failsafe plan.
We installed a mobile generator connection point and transfer switch so we can easily bring in Generator Hire plant to connect to our essential supply board.
Saturday 16th June 2012 CMRI conducted an emergency drill to test first hand the downtime that would be experienced ....during an emergency power outage.
The “scenario” was to simulate an onsite generator fail and put in place their PREMIUM POWER supply agreement with Generator Hire.
“We contacted Generator Hire at 7:20am and had a generator onsite and running on our essential building load by 9:15am. We are very pleased with their response and now know that our mobile generator plan is more than just a plan. From connection points, transfer switches through to unloading and reloading of the Generator Hire plant we know that it all works.”
“Generator Hire's service during the test scenario was exceptional with updates of how long till the generator would be on site. They acted with the utmost care and professionalism. I can rest easy that we can handle any emergency power scenario”.
The words “Personalised Service” rings very loud with Generator Hire Sales and Service.
From the early beginnings in the late 80’s we basically had nothing to sell that our competitors didn’t except for
personal service.
With the business starting in the backroom of the family home, the home phone and pager were the communication tools 24 hours per day 7 days a week.
Yes our business has grown over the last 25 years since those humble beginnings and we appreciate our many loyal customers, who are our greatest resource that they may need us 24 hours, 7 days a week for emergency service and support.
I am proud to say we have cared from everyone from dear aged ladies, pensioners and families in the midst of a major storm on our northern suburbs to large corporations, government departments, major sporting and concert events to children’s Christmas parties and charity events.
We are very proud of our achievements and growth and what keeps us going is the appreciation from our new and existing customers for a job well done.

What is Biodiesel?
Biodiesel is a blend of diesel fuel with a bicomponent produced from waste oils and animal fats.
Biodiesel can be made from a variety of feedstocks, soybean and rapeseed oil are common feedstocks
Major diesel generator suppliers do not recommend bio fuels for power generation. If bio is used for power generation applications a suggested limit of no more than 5% bio mixed with diesel fuel and under strict guidlines to prevent engine damage and failure.
The biodiesel components in the fuel can decompose. This can be influenced by temperature, oxygen and time. It’s is not recommended to store biodiesel for periods in excess of 60 days.
The decomposing fuel can produce deposits in the injection system during operation which can lead to sticking of the injectors and pumps especially in power generation.
The results can be ignition failure, loss of power, black smoke, starting problems and increased fuel consumption. Fuel filter change intervals will also be at least doubled. Oil change and oil filter intervals can also be negatively affected by biodiesel.
Diesel tanks must be thoroughly cleaned before converting to biodiesel as it’s components can loosen fuel system deposits. Repairs for all these premature failures would not be covered under the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Whilst the manufacturers view applications such as emergency power generation, emergency vehicles and standby generators and do not wholly support the use of bio diesel and recommend a level as low as 5%, Generator Hire is of the opinion that this very small percentage potentially offsets the energy content difference considering the increase in waste for reduced service periods and the possible increase of fuel consumption. As generators are commonly used in standby applications we also view the disposal of decomposing biodiesel every 60-90 days to be of negative affect based on the increased waste and costs to the consumer for such little advantage.
Generator Hire is contracted for many emergency applications and will not compromise the engine’s reliability for continuous operation as another key factor for the non use of biodiesel.
Generator Hire will continue to follow the practice implementation by the major manufacturers and will continue to monitor the use of bio diesel and its advantages and disadvantages.
